Summertime, my favorite time

Oh those summer days!!! In modeling summer means out of the studio for many of my shoots. I absolutely love location shoots, but they do require a little more planning. The extra effort is worth it because I think some of the most interesting images come from location shoots. Some concerns with location shoots is where to change. I handle that by bringing and oversize t-shirt with me that I can change under. A mans extra large works great!! Also you need to prepare for hours in the weather which here in Chicago means Heat!! I bring plenty of water and some dried fruit with me to help keep me hydrated and my energy up! A little planning makes for a great shoot and amazing images. Let's enjoy our chance to be outside working.  Happy summer shooting and remember Petite Girls Rock!!!!

Dog Days of Summer

Wow Today In over 100 degree weather waiting in lines for casting calls and running around getting ready for all of my up coming gigs I am reminded of one thing!!!! It is hot outside and we all need to drink water!! We can loose up to one quart of water in just one hour outside and that puts you at risk for heat exhaustion!! so DRINK WATER, DRINK SPORTS DRINKS but don't drink things with caffeine or alcohol because the just adds to your dehydration. Dehydration puts a huge strain on your whole body and can cause confusion. So Drink, drink, drink and when you think you have had enough drink some more. Try and stay cool and remember Petite Girls Rock!!!!!!

Fashion Thoughts

Some things I have figured out to make buying clothes a little easier!.

1. I have found an awesome tailor. It is the best thing I have ever done! A few alterations makes all the difference in the fit and look of an outfit. It would be nice to be able to have all your clothes custom made but that isn't my reality. By having off the rack clothes professionally tailored it is like you are wearing custom clothing. Some better stores provide this as a service and some stores like Von Maur provide it as a free service. So being petite doesn't any longer mean you can't shop all departments.

2. Look for solid colors and smaller patterns to make the most of your height. these make you visually appear longer and leaner.  When wanting to add bolder patterns try and have them run vertically rather than horizontally or use them in accessorizing your outfit, this things will help make the most of our smaller frames.

3. Look for stores that sell things in lengths even if they don't sell petite. Several do now Abercrombie, Black and White, Ann Taylor, Express, The Limited, Forever 21, and H & M are just a few that come to mind that I have great luck at!

4. Last but no least, I have found that some longer tops make great sun dresses and beach coverups. Who says a top always has to be a top when on you it could be a dress. Open up your mind to possibilities of using an item of clothing in a different way. Not only does it eliminate the need for alterations for the most part. It makes your ready to wear more custom.

Lots of challenges dressing as a petite but with every challenge there is a solution and these are just a few of the ones I use regularly,. Hope some of these might help for you!! Keep searching for new ways, places and ideas to make dressing easier for petites and remember Petite Girls Rock!!!!!!!

4th of July Holiday

Fourth of July....Summer....BB Q's and Celebration. For many of us this could mean overeating, over drinking and generally not taking care of ourselves. I have some ideas to enjoy your weekend and not regret the results at on Tuesday morning!! First of all it is the start of hot summer day's and nights. Don't forget to drink plenty of WATER. Think about your normal consumption and try and double it. You need to do this because we loose so much more water through perspiration during the hot weather. Plus we tend to be a little more active causing us to loose more water. You will also feel less hungry if you are better hydrated. When we are a little dehydrated we sometimes think we are hungry. So Drink Water. If you are consuming an alcoholic beverages alternate them with water, you  won't drink as much (less empty calories that we store as fat) and it will help replenish the water we loose trying to process Alcohol.

Hitting the family BB Q also can be a difficult time to no overindulge in favorite summertime foods. Who doesn't like that cheeseburger or potato salad. Brownies and ice ream. My suggestion is to approach this with smart choices. Remembering you can have whatever you want but not everything so pick your absolute favorite and enjoy. I also try and take the approach of taste everything and eat nothing. Which really means eat one or two bites of something and leave the rest. This helps keep you satisfied without putting in too many extra calories that will forever stay with us for weeks after the festivities end. Watching these two areas will help you enjoy your day and not see it in the mirror on Tuesday!! Stay safe, eat healthy and remember Petite Girls Rock!!!!!

Keeping busy and going strong

Being a petite model has its challenges so keeping busy is important. It is also important to pursue all areas of modeling. Lets face it. Not everyone want to work with petite models so we all need to give them reason to ignore our height. I try and do that by taking on new challenges and not limiting myself to one area of modeling. This helps expose me to many different areas of the business and show that I am constantly pushing forward. I have been lucky enough to secure a small part in a feature film Round about America which will shoot in July. Again continuing to take on new challenges and open up more doors. I know the future continues to brighten for petite models and I am so excited to be on the cutting edge of these changes. I again appreciate all the people that have worked with me and helped me so far and hope to continue with this forward progress. Stay strong, stay focused and stay beautiful because...Petite Girls Rock!!!!!

Happy Summer!

Wow, I can't believe it is the first day of summer. I think this is my favorite season!! I can't wait to be able to spend some time on the Jersey Shore later this summer. When thinking of spending more time outside I want to take a moment to remind everyone to be safe and smart when out in the sun. You might want to refresh your self with the latest infromation on sunscreen. Living Strong website has some awesome information!! https://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.livestrong.com%2F&h=e3f80.

In reflection spring was very busy and I ended it with a bang. Last weekend Workshop with Jim Jurica went amazing and it was great to work with and meet all of the people that came. I think we all learned so much and had a great time in the process. Thanks again to everyone and especially Jim!!

The beginning of Summer is also a busy time for my modeling. I am spending the first three days of summer out in San Francisco working with Bill Lemon. He is an awesome photographer that has several books to his credit. I am so excited to be able to shoot with Bill again. I am also planning on modeling for his up comming workshop in CA in early fall. In addition to several other shoots scheduled and promotional jobs, I will also be filming a movie in Chicago later this month. I am so excited to expand into films and I am happy that this is my first featured film where I have a speaking part.
