Petite Facts, Fashion and Fun

Hey to all the Petite women!! We are starting to make a difference and you all should be as excited as I am. I was thinking of writing a blog with just facts today when I quickly discovered in my investigation that many, many more "main stream" media outlets were reporting the business advantage of going after a huge market! and O Magazine did a whole section on petite fashion and dressing. Vogue Magazine used a petite for there cover recently, and of course Bella Petite Magazine has always lead the crusade for the petite fashionisatas. It is refreshing to see that ideas are moving forward and the industry is taking notice. This is huge change since just a few years ago. For all of you that don't realize..The fashion industry is missing a market estimated to be 10 billion if they marketed to petite women. Petite women make up 70% of the female world population. Petite women are 5' 5" or shorter. I have always thought Wow if I was a designer I would want to market my clothes to the biggest group possible or at very least I wouldn't want to exclude them. Seems to me to just make sense. Gradually they are figuring this out. Yeah for all of us!!

So what does this all mean for us (The Petite Women of the World) Well for me it means I can actually buy clothes off the rack more often. Most petite women know the drudgery of clothes shopping. I think we can all relate to buying an item of clothing only to have  to also pay for it to be tailored so that you can wear it. Which means in pants you have to bring up the crotch, adjust the pockets, hem the length, and lower the waist. By the time you get done with all of that, it is less expensive to have someone design and make it for you specifically. In tops and blouses you have to adjust the distance between the shoulder and breasts so that the arm pits don't hang to your waist. The same thing in many dresses unless you opt for strapless than all you have to do is adjust the waist so that it doesn't hit your hips. I think we have all tried on a dress only to find there was seemingly no waist in it...surprise lift it up from the shoulders and magically a waist appears. It is about time that we have options and it is awesome that through the voices of many Fashion is starting to listen. Baby steps forward but steps just the same.

For the Petite Model this is huge news as more and more designers and clothing manufacturers move to cater to the largest population segment. They will need models to advertise that fact! I am seeing more and more Petite models excelling in the fashion and entertainment industry.I am proud to be among this awesome group. I am honored to represent Petite models at Derby Fashion Week in April.  Increasing amounts of opportunity are being created for all of use. Everyone has a place and the world is noticing that......Petite Girls Rock!!!!!

Modeling and skin care

One of the most important features a model can have is glowing clear skin. That isn't always and easy task when you are going from one photo shoot to the next applying all different kinds of makeup to your face multiple times a day. It is important to make skin care a priority.

Some of the things you always need to do to keep you skin at its best is to always stay well hydrated. Eat a healthy and balanced diet and get plenty of exercise. In addition invest in a good home cleansing system that works with your skin. The healthier you are the more resilient your skin will be when having to apply all different kinds of cosmetics to your face. In preparation for my shoots I always apply my own moisturizer at home. I find that this helps protect my skin from other different harsher cosmetics. I also pack my own facial wipes to use if I need to completely change looks. This way I am sure that my skin won't react to others harsh cleanser and I again re-apply my own moisturizer barrier cream before re-applying makeup.

After my shoots I always cleanse my skin as soon as possible and again apply a soothing/moisturizer to help keep it balanced. It is important to find a good skin care line that works with your skin and stick to a daily regiment. In addition to a home care I have found that going for routine facials is almost a must. I opt for a deep pore cleansing facial to keep unwanted outbreaks away. "Doing this every month in addition to a good home routine helps keep the clean clear skin that everyone wants

Your skin is a window into your health take time to take care of it. and show that world that.......Petite Girls Rock!!!

A small look inside.......

As many of you know I am not that comfortable talking about myself. Today I thought it appropriate to share a little about Me Jax the model. The writer of Petite Girls Rock. I hope in someway this will inspire others to follow the dream that is in their heart!!

A little background. I grew up in the Chicago metro area and I am the youngest of three children in my family. I have two older brothers who have always been amazing and talented and popular. I was a bit more shy growing up. I was always trying to blend in while inside wanting to burst out!. My secret dreams were always way bigger than me or at least my perception of me. I spent years wondering and worrying what others thought and adjusted my life to fit in. As you can imagine, that didn't work to well. It never does unless you are following your own heart!

In high school I had the opportunity to work with a life coach, who helped me realize that the only way to happiness is to follow your heart and create your own path. That anything is possible if your willing to work hard and put your whole heart into it. It took me a while to wrap my brain around this idea but when I finally did I felt such a freedom that I can't even put into words. I think it was the release of the chains that I put on myself to fit in. I became less concerned about other people's opinions and more concerned about following my dreams.

My Dreams where always to Model and be an Actress. I had some supporters and some who basically laughed. At this point it didn't matter to me. I have a dream and I am following it! I don't know where this dream will take me however I do know that I have only just begun. I am excited about the thoughts and opportunities that come each and every day! Life for me has never been the same since I have started to follow my own inner voice and heart!

So go out and follow your heart and listen to your inner voice and show the world that that you rock and.......Petite Girls Rock!!!!!!

It makes a huge difference in my feeling of well being and I can't help be notice optimism in everyone else.

Spring, the rebirth of our plants and our spirits. As everything starts to come alive it is a great time to take stock in our self too! Spring when all is new and fresh! What will be your new and fresh start? It is a great time to re-look at your plans and goals and adjust them. In my career it means new projects and films and it also means getting to work more on location!! I always look forward to that after spending so much time in the winter inside!!

Spring.. Push forward and come alive and show the world that......Petite Girls Rock!!!!
