Spring is in the air

Spring is here and although most of us haven't seen that in the weather it really isn't going to be long before we are all outside working, shooting and taking advantage of the natural light and beautiful scenery that is available to us. I love location shoots but they do take a little more planning. Lets take a look at what we need to remember to always bring with us for location work..

I usually put together a different modeling bag for Spring and summer and in it make sure you always have these items in addition to what you normally bring in your bag.

A large T-Shirt to change under
Tennis shoes to hike to the location
Sunscreen to protect your skin
Bug spray to prevent you from bites and ticks
Water to keep yourself hydrated
Small First Aid kit (band-aides, antiseptic etc) More potential for cuts etc.
blotting towelettes to remove shine from your skin which in warmer weather can be an issue.
Hand Sanitizer just because it is good to have on hand.

In addition to getting your model bag ready you may want to take a closer look at your skin. Winter can be hard on your skin with the dry cold air, winds and heat in your house. It is a great time to get a professional deep cleaning facial to help remove all the dead skin and clean out any pores that maybe clogged. This also helps rejuvenate your skin in preparation for lighter makeup worn in the warmer weather. It is also a great time to exfoliate your body too to remove the dry skin that may be lingering from the winter months.

It is also a good time to make sure your body is in top shape to sport less clothing. So if you haven't already started take a hard look in the mirror and make sure you haven't put on weight or lost your enthusiasm for the gym.. It is the perfect time to re-ignite your program of healthy eating and working out so that when the beaches are open you are in perfect condition to rock whatever looks come your way..

Spring is here and so is all the things that come with it both personally and professionally.. Take a little time now and prepare and you will always be ready to show the world that..... Petite Girls Rock!

Just a few Thoughts!!!

I

In life we are also given choices: choose wisely. People sometime may think you are lucky. Is it luck or hard work, honesty and compassion?
I am continually amazed when I see people spending more time insulting others than working towards their own dreams. I see people pretending to be what they are not. I see people just waiting to copy someone else instead of forging their own path. If you choose to take the easy way for instant gratification, your success will be short lived because you will always be a “me too.” You will only be second to the original and only go almost as far as the original.
So choose wisely when faced with your choices in all that you do. Create your own path, because no one is a better you than you are!!! Stay true to yourself, and stay honest with others. Always remember that after you were born they broke the mold.
Follow you heart honestly, compassionately and confidently and show the world that.......Petite Girls Rock!!!

Modeling and staying safe!!!!

As a model you live a pretty public life.. You are asked to sometimes go to locations that you might not otherwise go. You may travel and connect with people that you may not otherwise have connected with. It is fun exciting and unfortunately not always safe. That safety issue was brought back to my attention today when watching Inside addition and hearing of two freelance models that left home in Colorado (separately) and haven't been seen since. Human Trafficking,  it is a real concern for all young women but a bigger concern for those of use who model.

Here are some tips to help with your safety!!!

1. check reference and Google the person hiring you. Look at there work and associations.

2. don't ask for reference find them on your own and read there sites.

3. If something isn't adding up DON'T Book the shoot

4. Give someone you trust all the information on where you are going, who you are working with, what the contact information is and stay in touch with them throughout the shoot/ trip.

5. Ask to see there identification and take a picture of it and text that to your home contact person.

6. Have a clear plan for the shoot up front and if it isn't going as planned leave.

7. when traveling outside of your area let others you may know that you are in that area and ask them to be an emergency back up. Always give yourself a plan B and plan C.

8. Keep your GPS tracking on the on switch on your phone and have your contact be able to track it.

9. Provide your own transportation

10. If you don't make your own hotel reservation, change rooms once you are there. If your name only isn't on the reservation the person making the reservation can have a key.

11. Use the extra deadbolts and safety chains while in the room.

12. Do not stay in hotels that doors open to the outside.

13. When you can bring another useful person with you!! safety always in numbers. But be considerate of the photographer as well. Use your best judgement!!

Keeping safe and staying productive is what we all want. Feeling comfortable will allow for a stress free, productive shoot and to show the world that..... Petite Girls Rock!!!!!
